Although UNICEF is in the first place a development aid organisation, it is frequently faced with emergency situations: natural disasters and wars. Because UNICEF is active in more than 150 countries, there are already important stocks of emergency aid available in the field. Thanks to these stocks, UNICEF can intervene very rapidly in case of an emergency situation. The Supply Division, established in Copenhagen, makes it possible to bring emergency aid everywhere in the world, in less than 48 hours. The purpose is to save lives but also to offer the children the chance to return whenever possible to their everyday way of living, which is very important to restore their balance.
